Getting Around To It
We’ve all uttered that flabby excuse that stops us from taking action. You know the one: “when I get around to it.” Funny thing is we rarely “get around to it.” Because there are always 100 other things we let stand in the way. I just read one of business guru Seth Godin’s brilliant blog posts on procrastination and the zillion or so ways we have of being “busy” but not productive. Think Twitter, Facebook, forwarding chain emails, shuffling paper, lack of planning, feeding your fear or hanging around people who don’t support you. All of these threaten to wreck our powerful intention to get results. What are you up to this week? What is keeping you “busy” but unproductive? Are you ready to declare an end to the procrastination cycle and waiting to “get around to it?” Here are three questions to ask yourself right now that will challenge you to quit dithering and start moving with intention toward the results you say you want:
Bad news-good news report: The bad news is you’ll never “get around to it” if you don’t know what “it” is (get clear) and don’t eliminate the self-imposed roadblocks to getting there (get honest). The good news is you’re in the driver’s seat. You decide whether you’re going to allow time-stealers or energy vampires to rob your most precious commodity or whether you’re going to use it to produce the results you want. The choice is yours. Now get going!
